A New Study Claims Flamigo Is The Second-Most Googled Pokemon, Doesn't Seem To Realize It's Probably A Typo

It was the 30th anniversary of the first Pokemon games this week, and to celebrate, someone ranked the most popular Pokemon based on how often people search for them on Google. The list features most of the usual suspects with a couple of surprising anomalies, including Flamigo, which made it all the way up into second place, right behind Pikachu.

The study was conducted by social gaming website Ace, and the results have been shared by Nerdbot. Taking data from the past 36 months based on search results in the US, the study determined that Pikachu was the most searched for Pokemon. People in the US Googled Pikachu more than 685,000 times over the past three years, more than twice as often as the second placed Pokemon in the study.

It's here where things start to get a little suspect. In number two, we have Flamigo. Introduced via Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, Flamigo is basically just a flamingo. It's certainly not the first Pokemon that springs to mind for most people, and almost definitely not one that almost 375,000 people will have been searching for online over the past 36 months.
