Pokemon Pokopia Already Looks Like It Will Get More Updates Than Animal Crossing With Its First Event Starting Next Week

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is one of Nintendo's biggest games of all time. Its cozy world endeared itself to almost 50 million players, but, at times, it felt like Nintendo had abandoned the title.

Over the six years since its release, the game received three major updates, including one early this year, and a smattering of smaller ones. For the most part, though, players were left to replay the same pre-programmed yearly events over and over again.

Pokemon Pokopia, Nintendo and Game Freak's latest entry into the cozy life-sim genre, looks set to avoid all of the same mistakes, with the company confirming that its first limited-time event is dropping just days after launch, and it's set to feature three beloved Gen 2 Pokemon.

Pokemon Pokopia seems determined not to fall into the same traps that Animal Crossing: New Horizons did. Despite only launching today, Game Freak and The Pokemon Company have confirmed that the game's first event is set to kick off on Monday, March 9, at 1 pm PDT (4 pm ET/9 pm GMT), running for a little over two weeks, until Tuesday, March 24, at 12:59 pm PDT.
