Yesterday, we reported on an ongoing controversy in the Helldivers community. The so-called Dev D10 challenge, or D10 charity challenge, was proposed by a fan last week, calling on the devs to play through the planet of Oshaune on Helldivers 2's hardest difficulty. If they completed it, the fan said he would donate $1,000 to a charity of their choice, and others came forward to raise this amount even more.
However, what could have been a great moment for the community devolved into claims of doxxing and abuse. The organiser said that it had gotten so bad that the charity he volunteers at was being dragged into it as well, with online trolls targeting his offline life. Eventually, Arrowhead made a plea to its playerbase, speaking out against this behaviour, and revealing that it and Sony will be monitoring the situation.
