Helldivers 2 Hit With Hundreds Of Negative Reviews As Players Blame Arrowhead For Doxxing Scandal

Last week, one Helldivers 2 fan promised to donate $1,000 to charity if Arrowhead completed the planet Oshaune on the hardest difficulty. Unfortunately, what was pitched as a fun challenge to raise awareness of the game's balancing issues quickly spiraled out of control, and Arrowhead was soon pleading with its playerbase to be kind to one another. Meanwhile, the organizer was doxxed and inundated with abuse in their offline life, leading them to allegedly be fired from their job and removed from a horse sanctuary they volunteered at for over a decade.

There's been much debate on who to blame in the aftermath of this whole scandal: the Helldivers 2 players who can't handle criticism, the typical trolls hiding behind their online anonymity to be cruel, and even Arrowhead itself, with some suggesting that community managers and subreddit moderators should have done more to protect the organizer in the first place. Indeed, this line of thinking has incited hundreds of negative reviews to pour in on the Steam page, and while the overall score hasn't dipped yet, these reviews are far outweighing the positive ones.
