For as long as Final Fantasy 9 has been around—26 years and counting, for the record—its jump rope minigame has existed as a source of anxiety for millions of fans worldwide. While I don't doubt that it's a cakewalk for a few strong soldiers, the vast majority of us have resented its rhythmic timing and all-around awkwardness for decades.

One FF9 fan more than proved his mettle recently by smashing through well over 1,100 jumps... while blindfolded. It's proof positive that it all comes down to memory and precision reflex, which means there's not a world of difference between Vivi Ornitier's Alexandrian achievement and the likes of whichever Elden Ring challenge most recently sprang up on your YouTube algorithm.

A YouTuber who goes by 'Played to Completion' most certainly proved the moniker proud with this one. As GamesRadar reports, FF9's 'Hail to the King' achievement (available via modern versions of the game) requires 1,000 uninterrupted rope-skips. This is tough, trust me. Unless you've well and truly mastered the art, and done so with such splendid perfection as to pull off 1,168 jumps without the use of your eyes in the process.
