Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds got a lot of attention when its DLC guest characters were revealed. With everyone from SpongeBob to Hatsune Miku joining the roster, it became clear that Sega was casting a big net, opening up the possibility for all kinds of collaborations.
However, we were then disappointed to learn that these guest characters won't actually be voiced. For many of these characters, this removes the most iconic part of their designs - who is SpongeBob without that laugh? So, fans got to work on fixing this, and now, the solution is here.
The Speak DLC mod is available now via Game Banana. The work that went into sourcing and piecing together all of the sound files was a joint effort, with a different modder working on each character. Thanks to this, all of the characters now have voice lines from their original actors, sourced from elsewhere and put into the game.
You can hear some of the results yourself in the video showcasing the mod. They blend in seamlessly, and inject some much-needed personality into the characters when they're on the racecourse.
