Lego and Nintendo have been working together to make sets featuring the latter and his supporting cast for almost six years. They're great, although the overriding complaint about them has been the decision to have large, interactive figures instead of traditional minifigures. That all changes in 2027 as the Mushroom Kingdom is getting the minifigure treatment, starting with Mario.
Nintendo shared a teaser on social media this afternoon to celebrate Mario Day, which falls on March 10 since MAR 10 looks like the plumber's name. The short clip starts with the camera panning down to reveal Mario's iconic green warp pipe. We then get our first look at the plumber's debut minifigure as it leaps out of the pipe, scored by the Super Mario Bros. theme.
That's all we've been shown for now, but in fairness, being shown anything of these sets when they won't be here for at least another ten months is more than we could ask for. The only other detail Nintendo mentioned is that the minifigures will be included in new sets when they arrive. On the one hand, that goes without saying, although there's still a chance they could be available separately in blind boxes...
