Pokemon Pokopia is perhaps the Nintendo Switch 2's first post-launch system seller. Its immediate popularity has led hundreds on social media to declare they might drop $500 on the new console, just to play Pokemon's Ditto-centric life-sim.
Social media buzz is certainly one thing that has helped Pokopia gain traction, but it set its stall when it became the best-reviewed Pokemon game of all time. It eclipsed the likes of HeartGold and SoulSilver and Pokemon X and Y with its staggering 89 on Metacritic, and while we weren't as hot on it here at TheGamer, giving it a 3/5, it's clear critics loved the game.
But while Pokopia's critic review scores are the best the series has ever seen, its user scores fall a little short, and it comes in tied for fourth place.
We analyzed every Pokemon game and found that 20 titles in the franchise's history have a Metacritic user review score of over 8.0, Pokopia among them. Its 8.5 score puts it just below the 89 it got from critics, and cements it as the fourth-best user-reviewed game in franchise history.
Unsurprisingly, in first place is the best Pokemon game...
