Slay The Spire 2 Becomes This Year's Silksong as Steam Numbers Explode

We got some pretty heavy hitters launching this past weekend, since Nintendo came out with everything for the cozy genre with Pokémon Pokopia, and Bungie finally revealed the new Marathon.

However, it seems the true star was an indie gem – successfully retracing the massive feat set by Hollow Knight: Silksong last year.

A Record-Breaking Climb Up the Spire

We are talking about Slay the Spire 2, the sequel to the highly acclaimed 2019 deckbuilder title from developer Mega Crit, which has just arrived in Early Access and immediately drew an immense number of players.

According to fresh data from SteamDB, the game registered a staggering peak of 574,638 simultaneous players on launch day, catapulting it into the list of the top 20 most-played games in Steam history.

This number puts it just above the massive Battlefield 6 open beta, which got 578,150 players as its highest peak, and incredibly close to the momentum Hollow Knight: Silksong generated during its own launch day peak of 587,569.
