Developer and publisher Fatshark has announced the release date for Warhammer 40k: Darktide's upcoming Beyond the Hive update, which the studio describes as the game's biggest content injection yet.
In a new trailer, Fatshark confirms that Beyond the Hive will arrive on March 17th, which is just a few days away at time of writing. It's set to dwarf previous updates like last year's Nightmares and Visions and 2024's Unlocked and Loaded.
The big new feature in Beyond the Hive is the Expeditions mode, which is essentially Darktide's take on the currently-popular extraction shooter genre; you'll leave the Hive in order to spend time on the surface of Atoma Prime, scouring the planet for Tech-Remnants for as long as you can before the pollution overwhelms you.
Unlike in other missions, Expeditions won't have set paths, so you'll have to work out where to go amongst your squad. Fatshark says Sites of Interest, which you'll find as you explore Expeditions, can vary significantly; sometimes they veer more towards combat, while at other times, they're "quite puzzle-like".
