Overwatch Beats Marvel Rivals' Steam Player Average, Despite Being On More Platforms

Overwatch never fared that well on Steam. Sure enough, it brought on a whole lot of players, but it also gave everyone access to publicly visible user reviews for the first time, so really, it was just a store page for everyone to scream at. Before that, anyone on PC was relegated to Battle.net, so a fair number of players are likely still playing through that.

That's why it wasn't too surprising to see Marvel Rivals continuously beat Overwatch's Steam concurrent player score when it launched in 2024. It was the new kid on the block, and could only be played on Steam if you were on PC (and still hasn't made its way onto Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, unlike Overwatch). But unfortunately for Marvel Rivals, that has now made Overwatch's latest achievement all the more impressive.

As highlighted by Reddit user Sio_V_Reddit, Overwatch has beaten Marvel Rivals' 24-hour Steam concurrent player record. This appears to be the first time it has ever accomplished this, and it comes after a series of changes in a big update that breathed new life into the game.
