While there has been a lot of evidence to suggest a remake of Fallout 4 and New Vegas is in the works, we have close to nothing on the next game in the series. Fallout 5 is a distant dream right now, as Bethesda is probably all hands on deck for The Elder Scrolls 6. While it would have been great to launch the game along with the Amazon series, time is running out, and the studio can only juggle so many projects.
So what would it take for Bethesda to possibly release Fallout 5 in time for the next season of the TV show? According to some former devs, it's possible that Bethesda will be looking to outsource the game to another studio. We've already seen it with The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, so it's not like Todd Howard is opposed to it.
Speaking on the Kiwi Talkz podcast (via GamesRadar), Bethesda veterans Jonah Lobe, Bruce Nesmith, and a few others believe that it's entirely possible that the studio could outsource development of Fallout 5. The studio currently has its hands full with The Elder Scrolls 6, and has reportedly already cancelled one Fallout project.
