Pokemon Pokopia is shaping up to be one of 2026's biggest hits. The Ditto-centric life-sim has already won the hearts of millions, becoming the best-reviewed Pokemon game of all time, selling 2.2 million copies in four days, and seeing physical copies sell out in stores. The idea is wholly novel: playing as Ditto and building a life in a post-apocalyptic Kanto. But what if it's not actually as original as we thought?

It turns out that a similar game was theorized over six years ago, with another Pokemon enthusiast predicting Stereo Rotom in a pair of weirdly specific prophesies.

Six years ago, Reddit user Nolaftw posted their idea for a new Pokemon spin-off. They described it as "an open-world game with lots of natural biomes and landscapes to explore and find different Pokémon (original 151)." Sounds familiar.

Where it gets weird, however, is in the finer details. "Basically, this is a 3D, open-world game where you play as a Ditto in a wild Pokemon world with no humans," their pitch post said.
