Highguard Microtransactions Are Being Automatically Refunded on PS5 | TechRaptor

Highguard players are reporting that they're being given automatic refunds for microtransaction purchases within the game, but it looks like that's only happening on PlayStation 5.

ResetEra user RedbullCola points to a number of social media users claiming that they've been refunded for microtransactions to the tune of varying amounts, with RedbullCola themselves also receiving a full refund for the amount they spent on the game. None of these users seemingly requested said refunds.

Given that Sony is often reticent about providing refunds for games and other transactions, it's remarkable that the only platform on which this appears to be happening is PS5, with Steam and Xbox users seemingly getting nothing back for what they've invested in the doomed shooter.

If you need a refresher on the whole sorry saga, first-person shooter Highguard launched in late January following a rather poorly-received trailer that closed out December's Game Awards ceremony.

The final slot at the ceremony is often reserved for hard-hitting announcements designed to drum up hype, so ending the show with Highguard, a relatively bland and safe-looking competitive FPS, felt like a strange note to conclude on for many.
