Final Fantasy 9's Long-Awaited Animated Series Is Finally In Production

For those unaware, there has been a Final Fantasy 9 animated series in the works for quite some time. It was first announced way back in 2021 by Parisian animation company Cyber Group Studios, and stars Black Mages called Mel, Kolm, Luciola, Théa, Fala, and Doc, who are the final remaining Black Mages across all four of Gaia's continents.

Unfortunately, Cyber Group Studios was eventually shut down, leaving the status of the Final Fantasy 9 animated series a complete mystery. However, it's now been confirmed that the series is alive and well, as it was recently spotted by RPG Site that it has been listed on Eurovisual under the title Final Fantasy: Black Mages Legacy.

Just like last time, the story will revolve around the last of the Black Mages, as a character called Mel is frozen in a crystal. However, this listing comes with some new information, as it's been revealed that the series is now currently in production, and will have a grand total of ten episodes. It also says Season 1, which kind of implies there are plans for more seasons, but that's just speculation on my part.
