After years of being leaked under the codename Project Spicewood, Minecraft Dungeons 2 has finally been officially announced as part of Minecraft Live 2026.
Over the past few years, Minecraft has been expanding far beyond the original survival builder that started it all. We've had the infamous Minecraft Movie, the more tactical Minecraft Legends, and even a narrative-based game from Telltale Games. By far my favourite of the bunch, though, is 2020's Minecraft Dungeons.
Dungeons takes the wonderful world of Minecraft and turns it into a more action-focused dungeon crawler that's similar to games like Diablo. It was a refreshing change of pace for the series, and one that we've all been waiting to see more of, especially since it's been rumoured for years now. That rumour has finally been confirmed during Minecraft Live.
During today's Minecraft Live showcase, we got updates on a ton of different projects for the series, including the long-awaited reveal of Minecraft Dungeons 2. The brief trailer didn't show us all that much, but it did confirm that the sequel is aiming to release in 2026, and will be available on Xbox, PS5, PC, Switch, and Switch 2.
