Pokemon Players Are Still Realizing Most Berries Are Anagrams

Insert "I was today years old when I realized" meme here, except in my case, I've personally been aware of this one for a very long time. Yet, 26 years after Pokemon Gold and Silver introduced fictional berries to the sprawling fictional universe, fans of all ages are still stunned when it finally hits them that every berry's name is either an anagram of a real-world fruit, or something remarkably similar.

The most recent mass revelation hit social media with nearly 30k likes and counting, and while I'm no mind reader, I would wager half my Poke Dollars to prove that at least a quarter of these people didn't know it, either. Pokemon's done a fairly clever job with some of these, masking the otherwise-obvious naming convention to a decent degree.

"I did not know the Pokemon berries are just anagrams of real fruits," shouted an all-caps-wielding Gale Galleon on Twitter, before providing three examples. "I am completely mindblown," Gale carried on, and others were as well.
