Ever since Larian released official mod support, Baldur's Gate 3 fans have been slowly working away on custom campaigns. These are a huge undertaking, creating everything from new quests or new games within Baldur's Gate 3, complete with their own narrative, dialogue, combat, and everything else that goes into a campaign.
One of the most ambitious custom campaign projects is Path to Menzoberranzan, a project which aims to take players to the titular drow city, among other locations, such as Athkatla from Baldur's Gate 2. Its ambition means that we're not going to have the full game in front of us anytime soon, but we are getting a demo at some point this year, and the devs have shed some light on what we can expect from this.
Speaking with FRVR, project lead Gregory ‘Lotrich’ Barak explained what Path to Menzoberranzan's alpha play test will look like.
"What we want to give our fans right now is just the foundation," Lotrich explains. "We plan to give our Alpha the size of The Nautiloid."
