Stormgate Online Modes Disappearing Soon, Offline Play Coming | TechRaptor

Developer and publisher Frost Giant Studios has revealed that its RTS Stormgate will be taken offline soon thanks to a corporate buyout, but an offline play mode is on the way, so you should still be able to play the game in some form.

As spotted by Delisted Games, news of Stormgate being taken offline was posted on the game's official Discord server, with Frost Giant revealing that its multiplayer partner Hathora "has been purchased by an AI company". I bet Frost Giant regrets using generative AI during the game's development now.

Hathora will wind down its multiplayer providing services at the end of April, which will leave Stormgate's multiplayer modes without a host. Frost Giant says it's working on an offline play patch for the game, but online modes "will not be available" when Hathora shuts down.

Frost Giant goes on to say that it hopes to restore online play at some point in the future, but that doing so will be contingent on "finding a partner to support ongoing operations", so it doesn't sound like the developer is confident that will happen.
