Back in November, Rockstar's Dan Houser, the multibillion-dollar studio's co-founder, opened up about what precisely happened with Agent. Pitched as an open-world spy game, the title—which aimed for a PS3 release—remained on the company's website all the way until 2021, when at last, writing long since on the wall, it was scrubbed entirely from the database.
The news came two years after a source code leak for Grand Theft Auto 5 eventually led to unexpected insights on a few work-in-progress asset pics for what would have been Agent. Fast-forward to April 2026, and one hard-working sleuth of a fan believes they've pieced together the puzzle as to what Agent's protagonist might well have looked like. It's not much, but it's something.
As spotted by r/GamingLeaksAndRumors, the diligent GTAForums user XanaBax may well have solved a puzzle precious few fans ever expected to have answered for them: the (rough, work-in-progress) identity of Agent's could-have-been protagonist. There's no name attached, but it's marked "Player," which indicates a high probability that this would have been the fellow we'd all have controlled across the canceled game's sprawling setting.
