Pokemon Go Player Has Title Stripped For The Tamest Celebration You've Ever Seen

This year's Pokemon World Championships might still be four months away, but the regional tournaments in which competitors qualify for those championships are already underway. A competitive Pokemon Go player thought they'd moved one big step closer to competing on the world stage this summer in Orlando over the weekend, only to have their victory cruelly overturned.

Firestar73_ is the Pokemon Go player in question and the one who is making headlines today for all the wrong reasons. AXN shared a clip of the Orlando Regional Championship winner's celebration (thanks, DualShockers) after progressing through the loser's bracket and emerging victorious in game five against their opponent.

Eight years after the first Alolan Pokemon were released, Mimikyu is coming to Pokemon Go.

Except they aren't the ones to have been crowned the winner. Instead, the decision was overturned by the tournament organisers, and it's their defeated opponent who is now Orlando's Pokemon Go champion. The reason given for the decision is that Firestar73's celebration upon winning the match was unsportsmanlike, and it's a decision that has left the Pokemon Go competitive community baffled.
