As someone who didn't know a single thing about the series before Baldur's Gate 3, the game's launch period was very confusing. My colleagues kept talking about companions making advances at them, the weird underwear in the game, different paths, and Mind Flayers from Stranger Things. However, none of those were as surprising as when I learned that you could have sex with a bear.
Over two years and multiple playthroughs later, I now know why the game is so loved, and even have a yearly replay routine. However, the fact that the devs let you sleep with Halsin while he's in bear form still surprises me. It seems even Halsin actor Dave Jones finds it as funny as the first time he learned about it.
In an interview with Fall Damage, Jones revealed that he found out about the scene well into recording for Baldur's Gate 3. In fact, he was on his way to a recording section when he saw the script for the scene. Of course, he knew more than we did at the time, so he couldn't help but find it hilarious that the devs would allow players to sleep with a bear.
