Mortal Kombat 1 Sales Pass 8m, Netherrealm Confirms | TechRaptor

Developer Netherrealm and publisher Warner Bros have revealed that their krossover-laden fighting game Mortal Kombat 1 has reached a brand new sales milestone just over two and a half years after its initial release.

In a post on X, the two studios announce that Mortal Kombat 1 has now reached "8 million units sold and kounting", thanking the game's "kommunity" for its ongoing support.

As of January last year, the game had managed to sell five million kopies, so that means in the intervening year and change, Mortal Kombat 1 has racked up another three million sales. Given the way things are going for Warner Bros right now, though, I'm not sure how much that means for the bigger picture.

Mortal Kombat 1 was first released back in September 2023. It's technically the twelfth mainline game in the series, although since its story effects another reboot, you kan (sort of) play this one without knowing anything about previous titles.

The game packs in iconic characters from previous titles, with returning fighters including the likes of Baraka, Reptile, and Johnny Cage, although some of them may look a little different to the way you remember.
