Road To Vostok's Budget "Secured For Years" Thanks To Strong Launch

Road to Vostok is a "hardcore" single-player survival game set in a post-apocalyptic variation of the border zone between Russia and Finland.

It's being actively developed by a lone creator, Antti Leionen, a former Finnish army officer who retired from the military to fully devote himself to developing Road to Vostok.

Now, the game has launched in early access to much acclaim from players. Road to Vostok currently sits at 'Very Positive' on Steam, and has managed a respectable number of concurrent players for a genre that's considered relatively niche.

"The past 24 hours have been absolutely insane," writes Leionen. "Road to Vostok is currently top seller in many countries, front page on Steam and with a Very Positive rating. I will share some launch stats when I have gathered enough data (+ some sleep), but I can already say that the launch has been extremely successful for a solo dev and secured the entire production budget for the game for years and years to come. Thank you!"

That's the beauty of early access and/or crowdfunding: a creative gains the ability to fully commit themselves to developing a project that people are excited about.
