It's been a long road for Fable since the series' reboot was announced in 2020, but fans are hopeful we are finally reaching the end of the road for Playground's renewed take on the series, the first Fable game since Lionhead was shuttered a decade ago.
There was a scare over the weekend as Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb revealed he had heard murmurings of Fable's release date being pushed to avoid clashing with Grand Theft Auto 6, which is scheduled for release on November 19.
"I'll say I've heard that Fable has been pushed internally," Grubb said. "That doesn't mean it's coming out next year. Apparently, they're still trying to get it out this year, but they are worried about the launch of GTA 6."
However, the official Fable account has replied to a user complimenting a screenshot of the game, saying, "Excited to welcome you back to Albion in Autumn 2026." Considering the original user didn't mention the release date, the inclusion of a release window seems an intentional move to shut down any delay rumours that have been circulating.
