Starfield is back - kind of. With a huge concurrent player count boost on Steam alone, it's clear that many are giving Bethesda's sci-fi outing another shot, trying out the new features and quality of life updates.
Now, it seems that this is true across all platforms. According to True Achievement's research, the player count across PC and console is up almost 200 percent. The bad news, however, is that this is apparently 20 percent lower than the boost it got for Shattered Space, which was a much smaller expansion compared to the combined Free Lanes update and Terran Armada DLC that just dropped.
As per True Achievement's data, the Free Lanes/Terran Armada player count is 19.4 percent less than the Shattered Space player count. That suggests that some are still burnt, and aren't interested in giving Starfield another shot, or picking it up for the first time if they skipped it altogether.
With that said, these new updates could beat Shattered Space in one metric - player retention. The negative feedback to Shattered Space meant that many ditched the game after coming back to try it out, but this could go down a little better, and hold onto...
