An Adventure Photography Game Has Quietly Become The Highest-Rated Game Of The Year

Halfway through April, and the race to become the best-reviewed game of the year, and potentially a frontrunner to be nominated for Game of the Year, is already heating up. You probably don't know which game has the best reviews of 2026 so far, though, as it's none of the year's biggest releases.

No, it's a game that launched today called Opus: Prism Peak. The little-known game has a 91 on OpenCritic. That's higher than Resident Evil Requiem, which has an 89, more than Pokemon Pokopia, which was the frontrunner until yesterday with a 90, and more than the other under the radar games which have scored big so far this year, like Hermit & Pig and Mewgenics.

That strange dinosaur game from the recent Direct is now 2026's worst-reviewed game.

Prism Peak has 14 reviews so far, and even though only one of them has given the photography game a perfect score, none have given lower than 4/5, hence the game averaging a 91. Now that it has a 91, it's going to land on more people's radars. That will, inevitably, lead to more reviews being published, and perhaps drag that 91 down a little, although...
