PlayStation's Fairgames Will Reportedly Have Extraction Shooter Elements

That PlayStation has elected to pour some of its resources into chasing the live-service boom isn't exactly new news. However, what is new is the various developments that occur with these titles, whether it be a cancellation or pivot.

In the case of Fairgames, or Fairgame$, contrary to past reports about it being canceled, the title has reportedly instead pivoted to incorporate more elements from extraction shooters, the current fad in the live-service industry.

Marathon, Helldivers 2, Arc Raiders, Mycopunk, and a canceled Titanfall extraction shooter. Is there space for all of that?

As first reported by Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming, the Haven Studios' developed title will have a dedicated game mode that will lean into the extraction shooter boom that's currently ongoing. Titled "Cargo Heist," it's described as an extraction shooter with an objective.

The full mode description, as relayed by Henderson, is as follows:

Break In — Find a vault code to gain access to the safe. Collect cash, upgrade your skillset, and make your play.

Drill — The vault is breached. Be the team to grab the cargo, or set up your strategy to intercept it.

Extract —The Cargo must be brought to the Extraction Site....
