Among Us was first released in 2018, but it didn't rise to prominence until 2020. As the world locked down due to the COVID pandemic, friends around the globe sought ways to connect, and Among Us was the perfect platform: a social deduction game in which you and your pals could hang out, catch up, and have a laugh.

While the game has never quite hit the heights it did in 2020, when almost half a million people were playing at the same time, it's still going strong six years later, as evidenced by its latest milestone: One billion (!!) downloads.

One billion is a huge number. It's one thousand million. It's one-eighth of Planet Earth's population. And it's the number of downloads Among Us has hit on Android devices alone. It's a staggering feat, and one not many games will ever manage to achieve. Even Grand Theft Auto 5, one of the best-selling games to have ever existed, has only sold 225 million units.
