Chrono Trigger Remake Rumors Continue Thanks To New Merchandise

Did you hear that noise? It's time for another Square Enix remake rumor. This one follows prior potential evidence—but nothing remotely concrete—pointing to the possibility of Square's cult-classic Chrono Trigger, a game that's inspired more indie devs than I can even begin to count.

The perpetrator? New merchandise. My immediate reminder? Square put out some kickass Xenogears model kits a few years back, too. Point being, it's smart to bank on your dormant IPs on the merchandising front. But hey! Who knows? There's always a genuine chance that this is happening for a bigger reason.

The figurines are part of the FORM-ISM category of Square Enix collectible. To put that into perspective a bit, that's the same type that was used in the creation of last year's Final Fantasy IX figurines, which were totally leading up to a remake reveal, right? Right? (That remake was almost certainly a real thing, and might one day carry forward—but it's on ice. Moral of the story, perhaps? Never take anything in life for granted.) Oh, and there's plenty more, too. Like Xenogears' Weltall. See? What did I tell you? Xenogears, man. This doesn't always mean anything.
