A 30th anniversary website for Metal Slug has just gone live, and it teases multiple new projects that aim to bring back the series through Mission Reboot.
Over the past few years, SNK has been making a clear push to bring back some of its legacy franchises, including King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, and even Samurai Shodown a little while back. That includes what I would call its standout series, Metal Slug, which recently came back into the spotlight with Metal Slug Tactics.
As great as Tactics was, though, it's a very different type of game than the rest of the series, and didn't give us the run-and-gun goodness that Metal Slug is known for. In fact, if you don't count remakes, compilations, and phone games, it's been nearly 20 years since we got a traditional mainline Metal Slug game, which looks to change in the near future.
2026 marks the 30th anniversary of Metal Slug and, as reported by Gematsu, SNK has celebrated that milestone by launching a 30th anniversary website. That website not only celebrates the series and its many games across the last three decades, but also teases some big news for its future....
