Gabriel Betancourt, a former lighting director at Naughty Dog, has shared some new details on what happened to Amy Hennig's version of Uncharted 4 that was reworked into the game we know today.
Although most fans seem to think that Uncharted 2 is the best game in the series, Uncharted 4 has always been my favourite. The way it wrapped up Nathan Drake's story by exploring his obsession with adventure, while also massively expanding the third-person shooter gameplay, was masterful and Naughty Dog at its very best.
That almost wasn't the case, though. When Uncharted 4 was first announced, it was going to be directed by Amy Hennig and seemingly tell a much darker story with Sam and Nate. That version of Uncharted 4 was completely reworked when Hennig left Naughty Dog, and very little about what happened to her iteration has ever been shared.
That just changed thanks to an interview between YouTuber Kiwi Talkz and Gabriel Betancourt, a former lighting director at Naughty Dog who worked on many of its biggest games.
