Japanese Gamers Rank The RPGs That Made Them Cry The Most

Has an RPG ever made you cry? If so, you're hardly alone. Moving stories can hit hard in any medium, after all. When Japanese publication Denfaminico, whose name I swear I'll get right without double-checking one of these days, polled local fans on which title hit them the hardest, the results were illuminating.

First up, yes, Final Fantasy rules the roost. Even in the land of Dragon Quest (which got multiple placements across all 40 spots, mind you), it's Square's seminal series that scored the biggest presence in the top ten. Which game hit number one? Is it the game that I've used for this article's feature image? Why, yes. Yes, it is.

The funny thing is, I agree with Final Fantasy X snagging first place. Not that I have a say on which game gets the most votes, because I'm only one person, and I don't live in Japan. But it's made me cry more times than any other video game, to be sure. However, when one respondent cited the "the story of an awkward father and son" as their rationale, I was reminded of the fact that the Tidus/Jecht part never connects with me in the least....
