If there's one thing PlayStation games love most, even if they say otherwise publicly, it's an easy Platinum trophy to add to their collection. That aspect is part of the reason why there is so much shovelware on the PlayStation Store, because Trophy hunters can't help themselves from continuing to stack digital collectibles.
Right now, that game, as first spotted by Push Square, is Chess Mate, a free-to-play chess simulator that happens to be a legitimate way to learn and play the game. It just so happens to have a Platinum that requires little to no effort.
"Ready to learn chess and master strategy? You’re in the right place. Chess Mate is designed for players of all levels, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player sharpening your tactics. Learn chess for free, practice your moves, and improve your strategy step by step," the game's description reads.
"Challenge yourself with 16 different difficulty levels, designed to help you progress from simple openings to advanced strategic thinking. Train your mind, develop your tactics, and enjoy a relaxing yet challenging chess experience," the game also notes.
My gaming habits are still dictated by digital trophies that ultimately mean nothing.
