Hades 2 Dev Changed The Ending As It's "A Game About Time"

While Hades 2 managed to top the first game in almost every aspect, fans weren't too happy with its true ending. It turns out the pay off for killing time just wasn't fulfilling enough. But, in true Supergiant fashion, the devs found a way to change the true ending, even giving those you already finished the game a fun way to experience the new ending.

Since time is a major aspect of the game, the devs decided to add a feature that would make Melinoe go back and experience the better ending. Changing the ending of a game can get tricky, but considering the setting and nature of the game, Supergiant was fortunate enough that it would fit right in with all the changes it made since early access.

In a conversation with GamesRadar+ at the 2026 BAFTA Game Awards creative director Greg Kasavin said that it was fitting that the game's ending was changed, especially since it is based on Greek mythology. These myths were told and retold over the centuries, evolving with every new retelling. The same could be applied to the story of Hades 2 and its ending.
