A Team Of Modders Have Turned GTA: San Andreas Into Manhunt, Rockstar's Most Controversial Release

Though my 3-year-old self wasn't personally murdering lowlifes at the behest of a mysterious snuff film director in 2003's Manhunt, I have long been aware of the cult classic status of Rockstar's most controversial release.

The subject matter of Manhunt proved extremely controversial at the turn of the century and was banned in several countries. The sequel to Manhunt was even banned in the United Kingdom, the place where it was developed.

Well, clearly there are some dedicated Manhunt fans still out there, because a group of modders has released a demo of a full conversion mod for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas that re-tells the story of the original game in a new, bespoke open world.

GTA: Carcer City is the brainchild of a team of modders, including Mattineu, who spoke to Kotaku ahead of the launch of a demo for the mod.
