Funcom has announced that Conan Exiles is getting a big visual upgrade on Steam in May, with Conan Exiles Enhanced bringing an engine update, improved visuals, and enhanced performance, plus a couple of surprising gameplay additions.
Enhanced will switch the game's engine from Unreal Engine 4 to 5, which Funcom says will also enable Conan Exiles to target 60 frames per second across all of its graphical presets "while also delivering strong performance on Steam Deck".
Naturally, the engine change will revitalize many of Conan Exiles' environments, bringing them up to speed with modern visual standards, but Funcom says it should also result in better performance. Given some players' issues with Unreal Engine 5 stutters, your mileage may vary, but let's hope for the best.
Lest you think it's just visual and performance upgrades, though, think again, because Conan Exiles Enhanced is also bringing a much-needed change to the way travel between the Exiled Lands and the Isle of Siptah expansion area works.
Once Enhanced arrives, you'll be able to travel freely between both areas, so you no longer need to choose between them when your game starts. Multiplayer servers can also support both maps now.
The update will...
