New Xbox heads Asha Sharma and Matt Booty have publicly shared an open letter they sent to Xbox employees recently, wherein a new direction for the Xbox brand aimed at building "a global platform that connects players and creators everywhere".
In the open letter, Sharma and Booty acknowledge that "players are frustrated" with various things that have been going wrong at Xbox, including infrequent console updates, a weak PC presence, and pricing that's "getting harder for people to keep up with".
It's hard to disagree with that last point; in October last year, Xbox raised the prices of its Game Pass subscription service, only to lower them once again earlier this week, so it's difficult for people to know where they stand with a Game Pass membership.
According to Sharma and Booty, the "new north star" for Xbox will be daily active players, which presumably means they'll be measuring the success of their new strategy by just how many people are logging on and playing Xbox games each day, wherever that may be.
