Fairgames Is Not Very Fun To Play, According To Playtest Report

A little over a week after it was reported that Fairgames, the in-development live-service shooter from Haven Studios and being published by PlayStation, would be adding a dedicated game mode that has extraction shooter elements, it's now being reported that the mode, and Fairgames as a whole, has failed to gain traction with players.

So much so that the title is being called "boring" by those who've engaged with the title's most recent playtest, codenamed "espresso."

In a sweeping report from Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson, the current iteration of Fairgames is apparently very different than what was originally shown off during a PlayStation State of Play presentation back in 2023.

Specifically, the stylized nature that was on full display during the title's CGI reveal trailer has since been toned down dramatically. Insider Gaming, which had access to gameplay footage, noted that Fairgames resembles The Division or Call of Duty. Not only does it resemble those titles graphically, but gameplay-wise, there's also elements of wall running and grapple hooks.

In all, it's a more "grounded" approach to color.
