Three years ago, Insomniac Games was victim to a major hacking scandal that saw up to 1TB of data leaked online. Contained within the files was an internal timeline of upcoming projects, including an unannounced Venom spin-off slated for 2025.

However, 2025 came and went with no sign of the game, and now Insomniac is busy preparing for the launch of Marvel's Wolverine later this year. So, it's widely believed that the spin-off has been canceled, and that elements presumed to be set up for the game in Spider-Man 2, like the Carnage side quest, could instead be repurposed in Spider-Man 3.

Given that the Venom game was never officially announced, it's unlikely that Insomniac will confirm or deny the rumors, leaving its fate up in the air. But Miles Morales actor Nadji Jeter was surprisingly forthcoming about the project in a recent interview with YouTube channel Love it Film. "Let me give y'all an exclusive," he said. "We were going to have a Venom game [...] and a Venom DLC, but we lost Tony Todd."

While it might seem an open and shut case — the Venom game was canceled because Tony Todd passed away...
