Last year, at The Game Awards 2025, a new Star Wars racer was announced from Fuse Games, a team comprised of ex-Criterion devs who worked on Burnout and Need for Speed. The only news on a release date, however, was a wide 2026 window, but a recent Steam post just leaked exactly when we can expect to get our hands on the game and reunite with Sebulba.
If you've been living in a swamp for the last year, studying the Force with a little green man, Galactic Racer is a 12-person arcade racing game set in the Star Wars universe, featuring a full single-player story complete with podracing. It's not an open-world game, either, but a traditional track-based racer.
As spotted by Wario64 earlier today, an October 6 release date was posted to and quickly removed from Steam. It can be seen on the standard and deluxe edition key art beside the 'pre-order today' banners, so it's unlikely to be a placeholder. Instead, it appears that Fuse Games and publisher Secret Mode accidentally let the release date slip a little earlier than planned.
