Just a few weeks after losing its creative director, Assassin's Creed Hexe has lost its game director. Benoit Richer has left Ubisoft to co-found an indie studio called Servo Games in Quebec. These back-to-back departures could spell bad news for Hexe, which was touted as a 'darker' entry in the Assassin's Creed series.
Game director Clint Hocking left Ubisoft in February as part of the company's big restructuring, but it's unclear if Richer followed suit for the same reason or purely to start his indie studio. While devs depart from projects all the time, such high-profile exits right after each other could spell trouble for the game.
We don't really know much else about Hexe, except that it will be darker than other Assassin's Creed titles, and probably feature witches and other arcane themes. Word from within the company was that it was shaping up so well that everyone at Ubisoft wanted to work on the project. However, these departures suggest otherwise.
