Star Fox Creator “Cried” During Character's Intro In The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

It's safe to say Takaya Imamura, Star Fox's creator, has had his eye on The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

In the lead-up to its launch, the creator-turned-lecturer would often comment on the movie's trailers on social media, at one point revealing that, despite creating Fox McCloud, who made his silver-screen debut in the film, he received no "special treatment." Imamura blamed the "Japanese corporate way" for this.

After a delay compared to its English release, The Mario Galaxy Movie finally hit theaters in Japan over the weekend, and you can bet Imamura made his way to a screening. It turns out that seeing a character you created brought to life in grand fashion can be emotional, with Imamura sharing that he "cried" during Fox's big moment.

Imamura is a certified Nintendo legend. He joined the company in 1994 and is credited with designing some of its most iconic characters, including Fox McCloud, Captain Falcon, and Tingle. He helped with the art on games like Majora's Mask, Donkey Kong '94, and basically every single Star Fox and F-Zero game in existence.
