One Month On, Crimson Desert's Player Retention Is Higher Than Elden Ring's

Crimson Desert is a long game. Just when you think you're ready to leave Hernand, a dozen other side quests pop up to ensure Kliff stays within the region. Of course, that totally depends if you're like me, who likes to tick everything off before moving on, or prefers mainlining the story. Either way, it's going to be some time before you finish the game.

The main reason for this is that there's just so many things to do and so many places to explore, and so many slow horse rides to take with Yann. While there are many that don't vibe with the game, it has sold over five million copies, and has already beaten the juggernaut that is Elden Ring when it comes to player retention.

As reported by Forbes, it appears that Crimson Desert has held on to more players a month after launch than Elden Ring did in the same time period. Considering how many players think Elden Ring has one of the best open-worlds of all time, that's a staggering achievement by the developers at Pearl Abyss.
