It's hard to believe that Slay the Spire has influenced the deckbuilder genre as much as it has in seven years. That single game led to a few imitators and also games that took the deckbuilding idea and ran with it in a unique way. We've seen some games take the David vs. Goliath approach to it and apply it to different settings like a cybernetic future, while other games like the newest Carmageddon take the overworld and rogue-lite approach and apply them to a whole different genre in racing.
The influence of one game has been impressive, and what Lunchbreak Tactics does is take the deckbuilder approach and make it team-based with your own squad facing off with another squad. It's a bit like a bowling tournament in that way, where it's just friendly competition in theory, only with more cards and fewer gutterballs. Monster Train allowed for decks to be combined and that's retained here — just with a more contemporary setting and design alongside an anime-infused motif.
