Nier fans are quite possibly one of the most perpetually tormented sets of gamers on the planet, constantly teased with potential news about the series, whether it be at a concert or by creator Yoko Taro being mischievously goofy online. Just last month, we had an official Nier April Fool's joke that hit a little too close to home, as a Cosmic Horror Nier game was announced as a joke.
If it's not the official Nier accounts torturing fans, its other fans, with some of the most elaborate hoaxes ever seen in gaming coming out of the Nier fanbase. We had the famous Church incident, which was later debunked as an ambitious fan mod, as well as the continuation of the Cosmic Horror April Fool's joke, which had a fan-made website spawn around it.
All of this is to say that Nier fans are no strangers to getting baited, but that doesn't mean they're not a hopeful lot. A new Nier tease has been making the rounds today, once again coming from an official source, and this time, fans are coping that it actually means something.
