Turns out, there actually is, as one player has managed to discover what seems like a fully functional village that only has NPCs missing.
This village was found by someone on YouTube who goes by the name Riskbreaker (thanks GamesRadar), and they chart their route on the back of a dragon and lead people to this village in a new video on their channel.
