Assassin's Creed Invictus Is Reportedly "Terrible" And Could Be Cancelled

While most of Assassin's Creed fans' attention is firmly on Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced, the big-budget remake of the iconic pirate adventure, there are several more projects in the pipeline in the works at Ubisoft, including a multiplayer spin-off game under the code name Invictus.

Officially greenlit back in 2022, the title is in development by a team of developers from another Ubisoft multiplayer title, For Honor. It's expected to be a standalone PvP multiplayer experience whenever it does launch.

Edward Kenway is back, and his cheeky welsh accent is better than ever in Black Flag Resynced.

However, that day might not come, at least according to one insider who reports that a recent playtest was not very good, putting the prospects of AC's return to multiplayer in danger.

Taking to social media, xj0nathan, a French Assassin's Creed insider, reported that playtests that concluded last month (April 30) were "absolutely terrible."

Things are so bad, that, per the insider, there's a "good chance it will be delayed or even canceled." For reference, the title is expected to release at some point in 2026, though that has not been outright confirmed.
