Earlier this year, you may recall that Nvidia got into hot water very essentially yassifying a bunch of existing video game characters, with Resident Evil Requiem's Grace Ashcroft being one of the more dunked-on examples. Nvidia was then thoroughly mocked online, with many fans creating their own DLSS 5 versions of characters that look far funnier and more creative than anything AI is capable of.
It was then revealed that Capcom itself had absolutely no idea that Nvidia was going to use Grace in that way, which means those that actually developed and made the character had her likeness changed without permission. It's pretty safe to say that if my work was changed to such a degree that half the internet dunked on it, I'd be pretty annoyed.
Well, Resident Evil Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi was recently asked for his thoughts on the whole matter in a recent interview with Eurogamer, and while he didn't directly say whether he's in support or against the technology in question, he does think the whole debacle was pretty irrefutable proof that Capcom did a great job with Grace, if so many people were upset with what Nvidia did.
"...the fact a lot...
