Last week, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis became the next game to come with an AI disclaimer on its Steam page. This disclaimer made it clear that AI was used in the development of the game, and that AI-generated assets had either been "removed or refined by humans".
Now, there is a big difference between "removed" and "refined". Removing them means they were a placeholder, whereas "refined" means that, essentially, we still have AI slop in the game, it's just been edited by a human afterwards. Needless to say, many fans weren't pleased with this. And now, they think they've found an example of AI art that's been edited by a human - in the cover art of the steelbook release.
Right now, many fans believe that the cover art for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis was at least partially created using generative AI. The evidence they point to is that the strap on Lara's backpack doesn't look quite right and appears to blend into the rest of her. Slip-ups like this are often associated with AI-generated work.
Crazy Taxi is also under fire for a similar AI disclosure on its Steam page.
Of course, this is...
